The Oklahoma Blood Institute, like blood centers in other states, is a critical link in disaster preparedness and disaster response.  No hospital can operate without a readily available blood supply.  Volunteers play a key role by donating regularly, helping to educate others, communicating clearly with the general public about specific needs in times of disaster, and assisting with donor crowd control and care.
