Community Emergency Response Team
Training (CERT)

CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations or workplaces in basic response skills. CERT members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area. This is a 3 day training which will be completed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday sessions (Thursday & Friday 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m.) or on three consecutive Saturday sessions (from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.).

The U.S. States Department of Homeland Security’s Citizen Corps CERT training program will be offered to citizens and businesses free of charge.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.

The CERT program is a community-level training program for non-first responders that teaches basic knowledge of search and rescue, fire safety, first aid and triage, disaster preparedness, natural disasters and terrorism.
